went to my local homebrew shop and was helped by one of their experts, he helped me put together my ryePA partial mash recipe. my question is why is my wort so thick? did we fail to discuss my boil amount? should i worry? final reading was 1.05

That is unfortunate, how do you put up with the morning rush hour traffic?
How are you figuring this out w/o knowing the final gravity, or are you just making a guess that it'll all ferment?1.05 is not a very high OG. That equates to the range of 5%ish ABV.
