The Rognesses sold Austin Homebrew Supply a few months (maybe a year) back.

They ran that place into the *******. I remember a friend telling me he went there to get brewing supplies twice and they were out of Two Row Barley. IE: The thing you need to make beer. lol.

Supposed to be better now, but I've got a sneaking suspicion that they went "all in" on the brewery and sold AHS to basically keep surviving.

Just ******* speculation.

I thought I had heard they sold the store but wasn't sure if it was rumor or fact. I definitely saw a lot of people complaining the store went to complete ****.

I don't feel bad about either going tits up. He was a real dick to homebrewers who disagreed with his terrible advice and more than once created rumors about shortages of hops and other products to generate sales. He lost a lot of customers when his credit card info was hacked, denied it for weeks, then admitted it and promised it was fixed only to have it happen immediately after a second time. Plus his beers suck.

So I'm looking for shippers in Austin, no luck at Spec's (Arbor Walk, airport) or Total Wine, where else should I try?

Spec's Brodie is their "flagship" store in the area, so is call them. Otherwise Home Depot is an option (double box).

Smith street (flagshit) is the only Specs in Houston that I've had luck with, so maybe Brodie will work out. If your not in a hurry, there's always Spiritedshipper.com

Specs online says Bee Cave has 12 bottle shippers but for Brodie says "Call Store". For 6 bottle shippers it says "limited availability".

Purchased one from the UHaul store the other day in person. No need to have them shipped. Online it says this Uhaul has 4 of the 6-bottle shippers available and 1 3-bottle shipper.

Twin Liquors is my favorite. Nobody that shops there actually buys beer, so it just sits on the shelf. I've picked up Sucaba, Parabola, various Bomb variants, etc. all on the shelf.
You've gotta go to their "Marketplace" stores tho. The smaller TL stores have a worse selection than most gas stations, lol.

Looks like Hops & Grain is planning on building their 2nd location, but in San Marcos not Austin - https://wefunder.com/hopsandgrain
Love that they're using an actual investment platform and not kickstarter.

Putting a taproom in San Marcos is ******* smart. Their beer options still kinda suck out there. Also: closer to San Antonio and somewhere to go on your way to Schlitterbahn.

Ben E. Keith? Ew.

Has the IPA been fresh up in Dallas?

Cause their IPA rules.

... I'll prolly buy it twice when it comes here like anything else from out of state tho, lol.

Since Alesmith is available in Austin now, I picked up a 6 pack of IPA. Bottled date - 4/25/16

Found some Alesmith IPA at my local HEB. Guy said hey just got it in. Bottled 5/09/16

Same HEB also just put out some Hoppy Birthday with a best before of June 6th. I'll assume she's been sitting on it like she has other ipas.

The new lady that runs it and seems to be over Aaron is completely useless.
