We sell way more Thirsty Planet at our bar than you would logically think. My first question to bartenders is usually "what sold the most today" and it flips between their Amber and ABW Fire Eagle almost daily.

Doesn't surprise me at all. People that really aren't in to "craft" but want something other than BMC beers seem to LOVE Thirsty Goat (their amber).

Thats actually a good point.

I was very stoked when i heard about that expansion. And, in texas thats def just "down the road apiece".

Hey Blathered beard, how's that brewery/restaurant place by the river? Wife and I stopped in there once a couple years ago. Still going?

Debated for a while, then decided against. I wanted to go for the cellar tasting but it's $60 for almost the same lineup as last year. Wish it was a more diverse lineup.

yeah. i noticed that. i really wanna try the dubbelganger and also wonder what glassware will be handed out.

The glassware the last 2 years at the cellar tasting was a small 6oz glass snifter style. First year (20th anniv) it was more of an oval snifter and the second it was more round. They are cool glasses and I use them at the house. Not sure what the glasses are for the Saturday event.

http://spirits.blog.austin360.com/2...weries-ironsight-and-bindlestick-are-closing/

Bindlestick and IronSight Brewing are both closing.

Hell, IronSight closed last month and apparently NOBODY NOTICED, lol.

Please note: I have never had beer from either one of these breweries.

Next up on my crystal ball to close: Rogness.

I knew about the Ironsight closing only because there was some drama where one day the Owner randomly changed all of the locks to the facilities and fired one of the brewmasters when he came in to try to open the taproom.

When I heard the Bindlestick brewing news my first reaction was "Who???".

We keep thinking Rogness is the next but somehow they stick around. I think they had their 4th anniversary party last weekend.

Id take rogness all day every day over SAB or that **** **** that lazy magnolia puts out. Hell Texas big beers were better than both those.

I completely respect people who live in Houston every time I visit.

Holy **** that city seems difficult to live in every time I visit, lol.

Visited the Petrol Station for the first time... reminded me of a junior Draught House with somehow more people, lol.

Also visited 8th Wonder... their IPA was pretty uninspiring, but damn that Rocket Power is wonderful. Place was PACKED as well.

We had dinner at Karbach and, while it was a bit overpriced, the food was very good. I also didn't realize how big/modern that brewery was. One of the nicer breweries I've been to in Texas.

Karbach is brand new. Opened maybe 10 months ago. The old brewery is behind it. Basically a crappy old warehouse.

Never seen it fresh in Dallas area yet.

I think Rogness WAS supported heavily by the homebrew shop both in terms of creating a consumer base and financing.
The Rognesses sold Austin Homebrew Supply a few months (maybe a year) back.

They ran that place into the *******. I remember a friend telling me he went there to get brewing supplies twice and they were out of Two Row Barley. IE: The thing you need to make beer. lol.

Supposed to be better now, but I've got a sneaking suspicion that they went "all in" on the brewery and sold AHS to basically keep surviving.

Just ******* speculation.
