Wait? Live Oak is putting in a DG course? One of my sneaky favorite reasons to visit JK is Circle C. If this happens, I may be making the drive down from Dallas way too often...

Thinking of joining Collective Brewing Projects Crowler Club, however I have some "minor" concerns. I live in Dallas and am a football/basketball coach which means I very rarely have time to drive over to FW. If I am going to join, my primary enticement is the 4 crowlers since I won't get to go and just have a beer or two very often. With that in mind, can someone that is a member provide the following answer.

How often are the "special" beers available to go in Crowlers (thinking of PGS, Fruited PGS, Bug'd Rye, Wabi Sabi, etc...)? I love Mustache'd Rye and would almost always get a Crowler of that, but would want to be able to get 2-3 of the non regular offerings each trip. Is that likely?

I'll be at the ColdWater in Austin, western part of town on the river (south side of the river) next to Zilker park! Also does it count if I went NJ>DC>FL>Austin?

Will be next Saturday probably right around noon/1pm, so should be good!

Chance of plans! Will be at hay market for an early dinner today on the way from NOLA to Austin. I made better time than expected yesterday. If anyone feels like joining I'll update for timing! If not I'm certain I'll see you Houstonites soon!

This guy.
Whoops hearing about Levitation cancellation just changed my plans (I prioritize music over beer) so I'm looking for alternate bookings for those artists...

I'll pick out some stuff for the Pinthouse share tomorrow morning :)

yeah please stop calling it a kickstarter. On kickstarter they never would have gotten anything. If you dont meet your goal you dont get ****. Which is why i personally only donate to kickstarters. Plus backers always get something for their stuff, unless it doesnt happen or the company just ***** and runs.

Ill only donate to gofundme for charity kind of stuff.

There's nothing in there yet, but this is the inside of the new 13000 sq ft warehouse that Austin Beerworks will be expanding into by the end of the year/beginning of next year... it's double the space (and right next door to the current brewery/taproom).

Eventually it'll look like this when it is converted to a new taproom/expanded brewery space and triple their capacity....

I was hoping they were expanding to Austin, AR, which is about 2 miles from my house.

sadpants
From what they've been saying they're not even going to be expanding much more in the Austin metro... this expansion is just to keep up with demand right now. According to the owners they do not want to go into other markets just because they are THE largest self distributing brewery in Texas and are fine with just being in one market.

They're at capacity and unable to add any new vendors. For instance, our business had to wait 4 months to get on the "list" about 6 months ago. Right now someone literally has to close or stop carrying them for you to get their beer on your shelves right now. I don't even think the recently-opened Austin Total Wine locations have been able to get them on shelves yet (to give a large store example).

So when they say "expanded distro" they mean less so Houston and moreso Cedar Park and your corner store if you live in Austin, lol.

Man, I'm all about that business model (as much as I'd love access to ABW brews). I've never understood this manifest destiny of brewery expansion. Just be a badass local brewery.

I look at all the brews sitting on shelves.... IPAs withering away from far flung breweries long forgotten in the market and think this to myself all the time.

All this distro, especially in Texas (which I consider to be amongst the best as far as US breweries go [we suck at european beers because of licensing fees]) has to eventually stop compounding upon itself as the idea of going to your "neighborhood brewery" catches on. I'd consider ABW, as a North Austin resident, to be my "neighborhood brewery".
