26 days til TX. I think I'm most excited about constantly having 512 Pecan Porter at my disposal. Idk if yall have gotten use to it or grown tired of it, but I think I have 5 or 6 pints of it every time I've visited home.

They have 30 days before they have to take it down, so they'll still be selling them.
Apparently it has something to do with them "repackaging" beer.

Which is really dumb because what the heck is the difference between a growler and a Crowler, really? The way the top is put on?

I've seen places do unlabeled mason jars for christssake, lol.

Also, there's a brewery in the Houston area that packages 64oz glass growlers of their beer which is distributed to retail accounts. Obviously the vessel itself shouldn't matter.

There's a legal argument to be made on both sides, and my fear is that when all the dust settles, we may end up with significantly more limitations on growlers.

TABC visited Nobi pub yesterday and asked them to remove their crowler machine. :(

nah. its just TABC haven't figured out how to make money off crowlers, yet.

they'll implement some sorta licensing...
Theyre already paying for a BG on/off premises license, I'm sure.

If you're saying that on top of off-premises there should be an additional, new liquor license for Crowlers (and growlers, I'm sure), that sounds like a slippery ******* slope.

How about the TABC just ***** right off and dedicates money to shutting down bars that serve minors and pour house brand vodka in your "Grey Goose" cocktail?

I was just saying the reason they are shutting down crowlers is because they haven't figured out a way to make money off the usage of crowler machines. I'm not advocating for additional laws. It's just government trying to figure out another angle of sticking more hands into business owners pockets. They should totally **** off.

Went to Freetail 2 on Saturday (AND Freetail 1 for lunch)... great facility! It's going to be uber fun to have the Super Mega Awesome Bottle Release Day there this year. Love that at both places now you can get draft beer, growlers, AND cans/bottles (IE: the way it should be).

As for the beers... I should have taken notes, but I remember them mentioning a wine barrel aged beer aged on pears?

Komorebu is a beer we are especially excited about. We began with a Belgian-style Tripel that we re-fermented on pears. We were a little curious how this would turn out given how delicate of a flavor pear is, but in the final product the aroma and flavor of juicy pear really shines through. We took the beer, aged 1/3 of it in used Mezcal barrels and the other 2/3 in used wine barrels. The result is an 11.2% sipper that really balances the sweetness of the pear (and a Tripel) with the smokey wood character of the Mezcal barrels. We produced only 80 cases of this beer...

****. He didn't mention mezcal. That sounds extremely ******* good.

And looking at the blog there's gonna be FOUR beers at SMABRD. I think the "old favorite" is gonna be Woodicus... Witticus (the base) was on tap at both locations. *shrug*. Just a guess.

Gotta start saving my pennies.

I'm hoping the "old favorite" is Ananke, or its even more rare cousin.....

My body is ready

too lazy to look for it. Did they announce the date of SMABRD? Trying to see if I can make this one. Woodicus is my fave TX sour besides Nocturn and BdbDb

I don't think it's been announced yet. Prolly will be soon.

I think it's been in September past years?

Those bottle shares have made my memory fuzzy.
