I seriously hope this isn't from someone on here or the other site. This is plain sad and pathetic. I've already flagged the post, but wanted to get others to do the same as well. $425 for a bottle of 2013 Utopias. I don't think he will get any takers, but I would rather block him so he doesn't get a chance.

I like the addition of FIRM...dude drives a hard bargain. Unfortunately there are guys/gals out there with more cash than sense and will pay 2X retail for Utopias.

LOL. It's not as if Utopias is even hard to find. I get it offered to me like 10x every holiday season. My ghetto HEB even gets bottles.

$200 is too damn much for 1 bottle... even worse when you consider it's almost doubled in MSRP in the last 10 years (I believe it was $120-ish the first 5 years or so)

I'd much rather put that into a box of loons.

I grabbed a 2013 Utopias for $150 in trade ... granted it was sort of a buddy buddy deal with a member of press. Regardless, $400 is stupid.

Fat Bao Kirby is doing a Houston Beer Week giveaway.

details:

If they were charging for raffle tickets, it would be... but since the beer is "free", I think they're alright.

You'd be surprised how specific the laws can be when it comes to auctioning and raffles, especially when it comes to alcohol being involved. I'm no expert, but a quick google search turned this up:

https://www.oag.state.tx.us/alerts/alerts_view_alpha.php?id=58&type=1

And this FAQ regarding Texas raffles:

http://www.tml.org/legal-qna/2004May.pdf

Or the particular act covering this activity, the Charitable Raffle Enabling Act:

http://www.txbingo.org/export/sites/bingo/Regulations_x_Statutes/Charitable_Raffle_Enabling_Act/

You may want to cancel this raffle, or consult proper legal authorities. It seems it is not within the confines of the law.

Thanks a lot! I've updated the information:
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=478239295617884

and I just wanted to clarify a few things.

1) I do not own the place. I do not work there. I gain nothing from this. My good friend owns the place.

2) This was always meant to be a giveaway. We never intended to make any extra money or anything like that. Fat Bao has accounts with BEK, Famous, Silver Eagle, etc and they get all the special houston releases like black crack, FUN, bishops barrel, etc. We are expecting bourbon county, too! the point of this giveaway was to put their name out there in thr beer community as an alternate place people can look. that's all.

3) All the beer was donated by me for free. I was thinking that I wanted the bottles to go to someone who would appreciate them, and i figured beer drinkers drink beer with their meals anyway. it decreases the chances of someone walking home with a gratitude who wouldnt know what it was when a lot of beer enthusiasts in town would love to try it.

Sorry if it came off as sleazy at first. we've updated it to offer an entry into the drawing (not raffle) for every visit between now and sunday night. ill probably add on a couple more bottles for the ***** and giggles, also. cheers!

I really need to ask Jeff if we will ever see Omni for sale... That beer was too damn good! You guys can have all the other ones! I just want a Magnum sized bottle with Omni!
ermagherd. Alex please convince Jeff to do some magnum bottles of a good sour beer than we can all age for a few years. That would be awesome. I've been dying to add a magnum bottle to the collection.

Seriously, just slice open a Vanilla bean, float it in regular BCBS and you get the same damn thing as BC Vanilla. Even better because the vanilla in the bottles has faded. Works equally as well with coffee.

No need to trade away a to of stuff to get BCBVS unless you are collecting the bottles.
I have 2x Madagascar vanilla beans that were actually pre-soaked in bourbon. Will try this soon and report back. Maybe very soon depending how cold the next 2 days are. supposed to get in the 30's I think.

Flagged too. F that guy. They are not rare and they are NOT decanters. Pretty much every HEB in the city has 1-3 Utopias.
