So, I just agreed to grab the growler for a Bay Area friend and get him a fill of Vanilla VSS and asking you is easier than asking Alesmith - do I pick the empty growler up from the merch desk as I would with normal bottle pickups? And do I need to say any special phrases or anything to get the fill inside A&S, or do I just show them the empty growler and ask for a fill of their rarest ale?

Ha, sorry I didn't answer this yesterday so hopefully you didn't hit them up and get confused..but yes, you are right on the money....mostly.

Pick up/pay for growler from merch counter. If they ask you anything just say that you are a proxy for your friend since I can't remember if you are a member or not. Then nothing special needed in A&S since they are only filling that growler with VVSS in there.

You get a beer named after you and your response time on Alesmith questions goes to ****... ;)

Thanks for the info.

Heh, yeah, answering questions...especially after I head away from the computer for the day, does take a back seat to basically everything. The better half and I were actually able to catch up on our TV shows last night (Bob's Burgers, Last Week Tonight, and the last two episodes of My Next Guest Needs No Introduction) so....everything else definitely was a back seat.

What hasn't changed is my mule game. I get the beer named after me and all of a sudden I am muling more Alesmith bottles and now growlers around the country. It's a good thing there wasn't a limit on the # of growlers I could fill yesterday. Although what was funny was that their POS system took a **** and Jay said he would cover all of my stuff on his allocation if the system didn't come back up. Sadly it did so I ended up paying for it, but had it not....that would have been one hellofa allocation gift.

Oh, Jay is also working on his blend of the week. 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse was the current name as of last night but it was BA Wee Heavy, BA Private Stock, BASS, and a splash of BA Old Numbskull. The nose was mostly dominated by Wee Heavy, which was a tad off putting to me since I tend to stay away from that beer, but it drank way too smoothly. A rather dangerous concoction.

Edit: Oh yeah, the fill was around where I expected, obviously not the cheapest in town by any means. $28

I got all day

u wanna taco 'bout it?

Tacos do sound like a good idea for lunch today, I will need to fit it in somewhere with my errands of dropping off growlers.

But to get things started for ya....family health, my insides attacking each other, inability to sleep more than 4hrs a night, depression, and lack of appetite.

But my liver still works just fine.

none of this explains your bad taste tho

I figured the lack of sleep does. Since I don't really get a chance to reset my brain and thus my tastebuds....so I am stuck in a loop of disliking Wee Heavy. Although the 2012 BA Wee Heavy.....yeah...that stuff is good.

For Scot Blair, this debacle underscored the need to listen to trusted counselors. “You have to surround yourself with qualified people who can hold you in check when you go flying off the rails.”
Ha, when Scot ******* Blair is telling you to check yourself, that's when you really should be listening.

The whole story still smacks of something off - I can't help but not buy Hinkley's story and his whole pity-party. I mean, from what I gather, the loans defaulted in January - which means that they went through a good couple months of not making payment towards it, or at least engaging in communications to figure out what exactly they could do before that. That seems to indicate that it wasn't a "it all happened so fast!" thing...so what was it really then?

so what was it really then?

Seems like a convenient way to push a reset button, weasel out of bad debts, shed off investors who are asking you to declare bankruptcy and rebuild the company (and their share's value), get rid of Pat and Val but keep Alpine, maintain a paycheck, and hopefully spin your company off on your second chance.

“I’m meeting with retailers, letting them know Green Flash and Alpine are still alive,” said Hinkley.

Pretty clear Hinkley's priorities are with retailers and not his employees producing the beer in Mira Mesa and Alpine. They might like to know what's going on and not find out through press releases.

They moved VVSS out to the main bar, so thanks for misleading me, man. I was counting on you... :(

Also, I'm mighty curious to see how people react to this beer once growlers start filtering out to people who might not be longtime Alesmith drinkers...

What do you mean?

What do you mean?
It's $28 for 32oz of a non-BA Speedway variant and, as with most Alesmith beers, the adjunct character is evident but not particularly aggressive. It's a great beer but I think people who aren't accustomed to Alesmith's adjuncting strategy are going to have some sticker shock.

Ah. I'd wish they'd stop being so triggershy on that ****. I will never buy a non BA SS variant again.

Come on now. Everyone knows it's really all about 2009 BA Wee Heavy

How many flat bottles can I put you down for?

I'm sure it's lost carb by now, but I don't recall any of the bottles I bought (or were served) at the time being flat. Don't really recall complaints of that either from the old BA days but that was like 7 years ago now since that release.

Pretty sure my entire case was flat. I still have a couple I think.

How'd you end up with a case of it? It had a 4 bottle limit at the time and I thought that one moved relatively quick (though Abigigail would know better obviously).

Anyway, if you've still got them around, I'd be happy to take them off your hands. We're talking about the same beer though right? The one with the brown label that looked like a barrel?

She worked there.
