I use Plantation 5 year, freshly squeezed lime, simple syrup (1:1 is fine imo), Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao, and Small Hands Orgeat. The little stuff matters to me too. Crushed ice, mint garnish, spent lime shell... it all adds up.

Beers at RCNP were stellar. $28 for a nice glass and 32oz of high abv BA stouts is a ******* steal.

Now at Toro because I am the king of bad decisions

Sorry I didn’t see you all sooner. Agreed. Wish I just bought the ticket. Ended up spending more money than you on less beer. Best deal I’ve ever seen for a beer event.

Aw, I missed #talkcocktails? The other week I found a store pick Four Roses Single Barrel at Costco of all places, and it's one of the best Four Roses SBs I've had. No ragrets making an old fashioned out of it.

Also I have a fuckton of bourbon, barleywine, and Boat Shoes, and Monster Hunter World. I'm p much not going anywhere for at least a month .

Lol, I saw that yesterday. nanobrew pressuring me to take baby steps, so I went with the 1.75L of Woodford Reserve. Was only $54ish, so pretty amazing price.

Is that at costco? That is a great price. Usually a 750ml is around $30.

I have started making flavored whiskeys in a separate decanter. I currently have Eagle Rare with honey, ginger, and lemon peel. I want to pick up some woodford and do maple syrup, cherries, and vanilla.

arren SerenityNow nanobrew which costco? MV?

Ok so I made mai tais per Tyrsis and HOLFY ****. i've had two already and i'm making another. wifey is loving it and on her second one as well. followed the serious eats recipe but found it lacking. doubled the amount of orgeat and it's gold. i had no idea this was a real mai tai.

seriously guys and gals, make your own orgeat. then take the spent sugary almond paste and add melted butter and a couple drops of vanilla extract and smear it on a croissant or pancakes, or **** add it to some oatmeal.

i'm way too lit for a sunday.

#talkcamping: the better half wants to go mountain/forest camping President's Day weekend. I was thinking Burnt Rancheria, but they're closed til April - so now I'm considering Palomar Mountain.

My dilemma: the weather. This winter has been p much nonexistent, but still, temps at night up there are supposed to be in the mid-30s. Is that doable with kids, even with mediocre gear? I have sleeping pads, a mattress, and other things to keep us warm, but I also don't want to be freezing at night.

You’ll want to have equipment that’s actually rated for something below that (e.g., a sleeping bag rated for like 20°F or lower), otherwise you’ll be rather unhappy.
