Solid list and mine would mimic it with 2 changes. Benchmark would be replaced by Burgeon and then I would put Mikkeller in place of Home Brew Co. (only because I have never been).

Fair enough. Of course a lot this comes down to one's interest in the beers being produced by the brewery and just their brewing skills.

Pro tip: beers and Kirby’s Dream Course on SNES Classic

Last time out a buddy and I took down a couple of the courses and a BAVSS. So good.
Oh damn, that's a brilliant idea. One of our favorite pastimes was bourbon and Mario Party; this seems like an extension of that.

I feel like this thread does way better than WC at telling people the best spots to visit.

The breweries that stand out to me are the ones that keep me wanting to come back the most. Breweries like Modern Times, Mikkeller, Alesmith, Burgeon, Rip Current and Lost Abbey top my list.

Alpine(/GF) & Societe being Gold are silly (to me). I pretty much never feel like going there, and am not drawn in by their beers (with a few exceptions of course). There’s way better IPAs around then what they are making (like from MT). And doesn’t Brandon work for Societe? So what in the fuckity ****?

Brandon wants to call out some Alesmith beers as blah, but conventiently failed to mention how Societe sours have mostly been blah. Recent visit to Fall, I didn’t like most of what I tried. Wtf is he talking about when he says “where have you been all my life” beers there?

Oh they are good for sure, not saying they suck. I just think there’s much more competition now in SD and I would not put that on my “gold tier.”
They consistently make the best IPAs in town. Considering IPAs are the most commonly associated beer with San Diego I think that would move them into the “gold tier”. It’s not like their other styles suck either.

What the ****, MT makes better IPAs than Societe? Since when?

lol Bay City lol
Dont hate bro, they gave us the "official" beer of San Diego - therefore it has to be good!

top 5 for me:

Pizza Port
Karl Strauss
Societe
Alesmith
Modern Times

My five no order (some Homer-ism as I have friends at a couple)
Pizza port bressi ranch
Resident (though I have yet to actually visit the tasting room sorry rmaste6282 )
Belching beaver
Lost Abbey
Karl Strauss

Very North county focused but two kids under six limits time available to explore more tasting rooms for me.

In no particular order:

Fall
New English
Second Chance
Pizza Port (All of them)
Port/Lost Abbey

I really like Societe too but haven't tried enough from them. Ditto Burning Beard.
Seeing a lot of second chance cans on the shelf of my Von's makes me think I should try them.

The Mulligan Irish Red is fantastic. Coffee IPA is solid. They have some delicious tap-only options too. But, yea, that Porter is redic.

ETA: Their barrel stuff competes as well.
They had a BA stout with cherries at their brewery that was incredibly solid.
