anyone know if those alpine cans of danksters paradise are brewed at GF or up the hill? i'm guessing up the hill (they have a canning line up there??) but i really don't wanna make the trek if it's not.

Currently drinking. It’s ******* amazing. Definitely strapping a 4 pack to my back when I roll home. The Alpine and Pizza Port iterations are still my favorite local collaborations. Kiwi Herman also on tap :D

Is that a new record between posts in this thread?

The site is acting weird and I, for one, don't like making any effort whatsoever to post on a website when there are many other forums available to waste away the day talking/reading about beer.

Highlights for those of us not on the other site?

It started with 3Chiefs, and then shifted to Horus...but the TL;DR is pretty much as follows:
I like Horus
I think Horus is overpriced and doesn't make decent beer except for this one brand of theirs
---devolves into complaining and arguing against and for the pricing and how much Kyle is making on releases---
---goes out into left field with some random **** talk
---back to pricing
---white knights come in to justify it
---other individuals come in with a few snide comments
---the whole "if you haven't tried it you can't comment here" **** starts
---"this is a fan page, so if you don't like it, get out"
etc...etc...etc...

makes for entertaining reading for the morning deuce.

It's pretty sad I figured most of the above as I was asking what the discussion was. Although I do enjoy the recap!

It really is glorious

oh that sounds like every single other stupid ******* beer "debate" i see on every other stupid ******* beer group or forum

Here's a mild take: Horus makes both good beer and bad beer, and everyone is allowed to like what they like. The end.

Add to that that price/worth is subjective. Don't like it, don't buy it. Nobody cares, spare us the armchair economist rants.

I think there's actually some value in having a discussion about where beer pricing is headed for various styles - good, bad, or indifferent. We're seeing different models gain popularity (blenderies, adjuncters, etc.), breweries are creating beers that wouldn't be financially viable to send into distribution, and perhaps most importantly, more and more breweries are changing their pricing and/or release structures in response to gray market profiteers. I don't think any of these issues is worth clutching one's pearls or freaking out, but if you're interested in the business side of beer, discussing these changes can be a worthwhile conversation.

However, that's not what's happening on BA. People are just using high prices to tee off on specific breweries and entertain themselves by repeating the same arguments over and over and over.

Ha! Was gonna say, I'm agreeing with everything you're saying, however that isn't the case over there, at least on that specific thread.

That is a far too simple opinion. You need to drag it out for at least 3 "forum pages". I also agree though but my sample size is small...only had like 2 of the sours (both were delicious) but have had like 4-5 of the adjuncted stouts (I enjoyed 2 and thought the other 2-3 were hot messes, hot as in the adjuncts not a barrel since they weren't BA).

Yeah I guess bottle logic told them that they have a restraining order against me (they don't) so Hop Culture refunded my ticket and told me I wasn't welcome. ****** ****.
This is terrific. It takes some balls to admit something so embarrassing so I’m impressed with how forthcoming you’re being.

How is this embarrassing? It's embarrassing for Hop Culture, not me. They banned someone from their fest on hearsay. The sad part is I haven't had any interaction with bottle logic for at least 2 years yet they are still actively searching my name on guests lists sent to them by festivals (why is that happening in the first place?)

What I loved about Hootenanny was people complaining that the pours were too big.

The pours were indeed fat. I gave away my last ticket before I left. I didn't even need it at that point

Agreed, I had VIP and was incredibly drunk by the time we left. It was honestly one of the best beer festivals I've been to in recent years despite the heat.

I fully agree.

However, beer "geeks" discussing "business" might be the only conversation that is worse than beer nerds complaining about stuff like Horus et al.

You forgot to add, “Get off my lawn.”
