Anyone want to come to the MT tasting tonight? I have an extra ticket - the wife can't make it.

Speaking of modern times. Strolled by the new one in Encinitas there is a sign up. I'm excited.

Also, Fremont Kentucky Dark Star was at Bottle Craft today. I love that this is a yearly thing.

He looks exactly like his avatar. I mean, if he had hair and shaved his beard. =P
Everyone knows who I am... except you apparently :)
Wait you have a beard now??

Also not sure I've seen many "fresh hop" beers so far but PP nug o war, and resident chasing citra (wet hop) are both fantastic. Do not sleep on those!

Crazy since they just released it at the brewery on Saturday. Time to start the phone campaign and get as much of that beer as possible.

They seemed to imply at the tasting last night that the Encinitas opening is imminent, with purchase pick ups starting sometime early 2019. Said they're delaying that ability to work out kinks and train staff better, as there were some lumps with trying to open/allow pick ups at the same time with LA and Portland spots this year.

Paraphrasing, but I believe that's the gist. Xul and ModernTimesSteven can provide clarification, I'm sure.

I kinda hope they send out an email about first day of operation. I would like to be there when they are finally able to open their doors just to piss off the nimbys in that part of encinitas.

Communication is never lacking from them (in a good way)... I'm sure they'll let us know!

Yep, that's accurate. They said they _might_ allow pickups late in 2018 in Encinitas, but they're only promising it beginning in 2019. They also said that there won't be preview tastings at the Encinitas location.

Horny Devil is one of those beers I need to revisit. I remember it being one of the earlier San Diego produced beers that I ever tried.
I really liked Little Devil way back when. Roommates, friends and I went through 2 15 gallon kegs over the course of a summer, when normally we would be lucky to kill 2 5 gallons in the same time.

Did this change? When? Been awhile since I've bought any of those beers, but I've always been a fan of Wee Heavy in particular.

I too am curious. Not really that huge of a fan of Wee Heavy unless it was barrel-aged and has a few years on it, but I do know that they let the BA bottles condition for around 2-4months

Huh. Don't know a whole lot about them nor have I had much of their beer, but I wouldn't have guessed they'd be next to close.

They sound like one of the smart ones who realized their business was unsustainable and cut their losses before any real damage was done. Sucks for us, but whatever's best for them.

Been a few years at least.
