How's the Heiress stack up against the other local/CA pilsners? Trying to further expand my game with local options. Really like Bierstadt Slo Pour and Wren House Big Spil Pilz with Nelson but harder to get obviously. Reality Czech is good, have also tried the Enegren collab. Party Cup is great also, how does Heiress fit? Any others from SD locals or close by?

Team Heiress here, so I love that beer and at $11/4pk seems like the best bang for your buck. Party cup is great but has more of that west coast thing akin to Timbo Pils which is fantastic. Although Burgeon Carlsbad Crush is a pale ale, it reminds me a lot of Timbo Pils and Party Cup, been drinking tons of that. The Enegren collab with Bierstadt was solid, but had a finish I wasn't the biggest fan of, couldn't put my finger on it, but it was just a tad strange. I like their respective lagers that they produce a bit more. Reality Czeck is amazing, but after shipping comes out to ~$17.50/4pk. I split a case from moonlight brewing with friends, but isn't the best price point. Really enjoyed the latest batch of Special Lager from Eppig. I also love Big Spill Pils, my brother is out in Phoenix, whenever I visited pre Covid, would always bring back some Big Spill.

A couple friends got Engren (sp?) delivered. I think they’re up near LA. The way they’ve been raving I’m tempted to place an order.

edit:
Seeing post above it’s Enegren

That wren house lager festival, take me back!!!

North of LA. They have distro down here though. I’ve bought their stuff from Trader Joe’s as well as bottle shops.

I'm stoked we finally have the Amified Pilsner in cans. Previously known as Licensed to Pils, look for it now as Punkdemic Pils. It's on the hopper side. I truly love it. Almost out of my case of low fills already. Hope you guys can find it and dig it. Bottlecrafts and South Bay Liqour got it yesterday. More should be going out this week. And obviously available to-go at the 3 locations. (I'll allow myself one shameless plug in 5 years)

It's frankly been a while since I've had Heiress, but I've long thought it was the best Czech Pils available in San Diego. I've been meaning to get a 4pk to compare with Reality Czeck and the Enegren collab to see how it stacks up.

Eppig's lager line-up is great, as always. I've also really liked Karl Strauss' Follow the Sun, and Burning Beard's Normcore is a solid one as well.

The one pils I miss the most, however, is Pizza Port's Pick Six. I really wish they'd bring that back to cans.

Oh and if you're looking for a decent "authentic" pils that is available at bottle shops around town, Rothaus Pils is legit - probably my favorite pilsner of them all.

Are you trolling us?
No. I have way tons of Fou and it isn't my favorite seasonal. I've tried posting several times 1:1 for Lam, Vig, Mamouche, older Golden Blends and got crickets. And I kinda wanted to get some Monkish without having to stalk their insta stories and time it perfectly. The 8:1 was a complete guess as to what might close without a lot of back and forth, but literally no clue.

Random, off topic question. If I was going to post an IP trade offer, Fou for Monkish cans. What's a good ratio, like 8:1?

Jesus don't do that. They're shipping occasionally now and do online sales for pickup, goes quick though. Also, they're not that much/any better than many other chicken soup ipas.

Like everybody else, I would say don't make that trade....lambic for the "same IPA but with a different name" just isn't worth it. But if you opt to go with it, then yes... 8:1 would be the ratio I would use.

If I had any Mamouche bottles I would do that trade all day...just can;'t stand that pickle water, despite loving pickles.

Maybe I'll just attempt another trade for alternative Canty seasonals soon instead. It's tough to get a bite for IP for anything it seems, unless you are coming from out of town and wanting to trade for locals. Thanks for the responses. Not going to go down the road of even trying to get Monkish online sales and risk wasting a bunch of time and coming up with nothing. I think I'll get my slurry water fix by pulling the trigger on some Casa Agria with free shipping once they post another DIPA.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuk. Do they ever do regular kegs?
They've been selling regular kegs of Art Is Hard (with a keg deposit, of course). If you really want one, contact them and see if they have one they'd be willing to sell you. It might be something they can do easily but just haven't listed on their online store. Guessing they're not filling normal kegs very much right now but who knows.

Love me some Heiress. Did a blind tasting of Heiress, Reality Czeck, and Wayfinder CZAF. We thought RC was the most authentic and best looking (gorgeous color, lacing, head). All three were damn good though.

Enegren Edel Pils is hitting shelves and that will be my go to for the foreseeable future.

What are some Batten Beers that people are liking? I tried a few when they first opened and all were solid, but haven't had a chance to get a growler or crowler.

Crushed a crowler of Together Apart yesterday, Bill's collab with Original 40. BLVD Brown if you're in the mood for an American brown, which is pretty much an extinct style these days. Rainbow Tears if you want something hoppy.
