Ok but shouldn’t people be presented with the full story so they can make an informed decision? I imagine most people that donated have no idea they are donating to someone that injured themselves in a DUI. I know the few businesses that I have spoken with that had or had planned fundraisers had no idea.
Sure, it's certainly a moral dilemma. I don't know Nick well, but he's been nothing but nice in all of the interactions I've had with him. That said getting on a motorcycle drunk is certainly stupid, and I didn't know about the Megan's law thing. Both definitely gave me pause before donating. It's something that is pretty far in his past, he seems open to discussing it, and he should explain it to those businesses. I'm not apologizing for his actions, I don't think any of us are, but, with how screwed up the healthcare system in this country is, anyone could be put in a situation where they need additional funds. These gofundmes are a part of our culture now, and, in my opinion, it's completely ******

Oh I totally agree that is my exact point though. The people and businesses raising and donating money should know that they are donating to someone that drove a motorcycle drunk and injured themselves. Clearly there are people that would still donate but people should be at least given all of the information. That is all I am saying. If someone chooses to donate after knowing that all then I don't care. I just feel like if alcohol businesses are raising money for someone they should know that they are raising money for something I am sure they are wholly against (driving under the influence).

My favorite part about the game was how many people were opting to stand in line for Pizza Port, Karl Strauss, etc. instead of the Budweiser/Ballast Point/Elysian carts.

Right?! I was going to mention something along these lines if nobody else did. Budweiser Pavilion is crickets. Same with those 'big beer' carts throughout the stadium. It's great.

JJ [mod edit] you are not spreading the real story. You are spreading a story that you came up with. As someone who was at the actually at the trial, feel free to hit me up with any questions or beer friends feel free to call him yourself. JJ I am not sure why you are constantly calling and harassing Thorn brewery, Nicks former roommate, and up here parading yourself like you have any idea what is going on. Its just sad bro

Welcome to Talkbeer?

Well thank you Ive been in the industry since 2006. I just caught wind this dude JJ has been harassing a man who is in the beer industry on this site. Nick wrecked his bike is now paraplegic, and John feels the need to constantly call thorn brewing to harass them, harassing his former roommate, blasting him on facebook, and harass Nick. Figured I would have to come to this forum to help clear things up.

Its real easy to bully someone on the internet. Big Frank, lets kick this off what was your first San diego craft beer

Totally honest, Stone Arrogant Bastard was one of the first craft beers I had. Someone gave it to me and I was very confused. Totally different from the Milwaukee's Best light I was used to drinking.

I haven't called anyone. Keep supporting a convicted sex offender that wrecked his bike due to being drunk.

John simmer down we are talking beer now, move on. Although I think I have gotten to know you pretty well. You will throw out another fake story, stomp your feet try to get me banned or blocked from commenting on here

Trying to find hidden gems in this over saturated market of breweries, don't get me wrong I love all the spots that pop up. Im always looking for that "THIS BEER IS AMAZING AND DIFFERENT"

There is a decent amount of that in this town but as options have proliferated people have gotten very stuck in their neighborhood.

But yes there is a lot of same same around town... but plenty of overlooked quality.

I miss this thread...sometimes. ಠ_ಠ

I decided to come back to beer forums after leaving beer advocate some years ago. Perhaps I can learn somethings around San Diego and share some insight with people again... in forum form

Beer Advocate sucks, but unfortunately the chaff moves here and takes advantage of the freer flowing nature.

Easiest way for me to forever skip an establishment.

Depends on the band and the acoustics for me. I've heard good bands play in a venue not intended for music sounds like garbage. Then others where it set a good tone for just hanging out and enjoying the evening

It's not exactly a hidden gem, and it's certainly not going to be news to anyone here, but I was blown away with how much I liked the beers at NPBC over the weekend. I've always sorta liked them, but pours of Infinite Content and Art Is Hard really surprised me. Also love their guest taps and Mastiff on site.

I did a walk-about this past weekend for a friend's birthday. Finally lifted my personal ban on going to The Friendly and the burger was decent. Nothing spectacular but decent. Had some Melvin ipa here. Hit up Belching Beaver and had their sour #9. Was about as close as any san diego brewery has gotten to tasting like Atrial Rubicite. Then Rip Current for some Hazardous Hazelnut (been years since I drank one of these at either of their locations). And then finished up at Toro with a Blind Pig...because why not. Some friends kept the party going, but I was done for the day here...since I still needed to be productive.

According to will BB's upcoming grape sour is a "pour mans st lam" so that has me giddy.

I was at the Belly Up last night to see IDLES, who were killer, and had a GF WCIPA for the first time in years and the first time since they said they went back to the original recipe. With the caveat that beer tends to taste better when I'm watching a great band, the WCIPA was surprisingly good and did give me some late 2000s flashbacks. So I had another.
