Hi Cape!

Anyway, getting all recriminatory about whatever does not lead to much. I never met anyone here so can hardly pass judgement, though I assume you are all great people.

At least Cape is one of us, I think, location wise. He even seems to actually make beer, which is sometimes a rarity on this part of forum. Hopefully I can get off 495 and drink some someday.

Anyway, I am quite pleased with an ale I'm drinking, mostly pils, some floored MO or similar high end two row, rye malt, corn, some red wheat malt. Hopped moderate but noticeable, w azacca FW, pearl or similar 30 min in , leaf amarillo post whirlpool at about 160F. Full, flavorful, around 6 ABV, nice spicy citrus finish.

Rock on fellow critters, another day of too hot for outdoor work tomorrow for me, got to do some anyway, w dust & diesel. {;

Interesting, I'd have thought your island ran a bit cooler than "Too hot to work". We were on the Bass River near the mouth all last week and the temps there were at least 10°F lower than Central MA when the wind was out of the S/SE - which was all but Thursday, iirc. Actually was quite nice there.

Otoh, here back at home this week, it's been hellacious. Even the animals are chillin' wherever than can find a cool-ish spot. Been seeing does escorting dappled fawns to wade in our pond lately, and even the resident woodchuck took a dip in the shallow end...

Often it does run cooler, but when the hot polluted air pushes off the northeast corridor, we are not spared, air quality alerts and all. Hit around 90F yesterday, w lots of humidity and ozone, plus most of the rain everyone else gets skips us due to some kind of alteration that happened when they dug the canal, or so I'm told. Boston and the Cape gets more percipitation, unless it is coming off Atlantic, we tend to get more off season, when it is nice, grey dreary and cold. At this point, I can hardly wait.

Missed you like a hangover. Where ya been?

I was HERE on Sunday.

I think it was 5 years ago I had taken a whale watching tour out of Gloucester. It was dead for an hour as we waded around Cape Ann. Then all of a sudden a call came in and they darted for an hour straight to the southern portion of Stellwagen off of Ptown. I had never seen so many whales. Horizon was full breaching and right next to the boat. We got home 2 hours late but it was worth it.

Same thing for our ride home. Every time I’d get the boat up to speed there would be another single or pod directly in front of us.

The pic of the one off my port quarter was a “Holy Sh!t moment”. I had positioned us where the one I was tracking should have come up 50 yards ahead of us. Instead that one popped up behind us and we heard her exhale and got sprayed with the spout as she surprised the hell out of us. Then the one I was expecting to pop up just off my bow did so. The place was crawling with whales.

I had to run over to the Emporium in West Boylston for a couple of gas QDs and chatted with the young man that usually is holding down the fort there. He related that business has been very good of late with lots of new folks getting started home brewing and vets stocking up. Surprised me, but that's fine, the more the better, because clearly the bidness on the whole has been in decline over the last many years since its peak. And I need the store to stay afloat!

Cheers!

I realize my opinion might be a bit out there, but if tropical depression 11 made it here as a Cat 2, maybe take out some infrastructure, we'd be better off in long run despite real economic losses. Lots of the dinks are making noises they are going to stay past labor day 'cause of covid, some even enrolling their brats in the local schools. Better for them and us if they see what it can be like right away, and go back to their high end strip malls.

know it is not likely, but it is ok to dream, isn't it? I actually had an effective rain dance once, but alas,,,, perhaps I have said ,,,never mind,, "party on" and "remember is a marathon, not a sprint".

Alas dear Josephine will likely be blown off to the east by all the hot air, disturbance 1, likely same fate.

At this point I'd be grateful for even a little rain. Probably will have a miserable winter though. I can hardly wait.

Cheer up, D, because hurricane season isn’t over yet. As far as rain yeah I’ve got some to send your way. That stupid tropical storm was all wind and very little rain, sea aerosol driven by the wind destroyed the finish on my cheap stainless grill, and dried out the leaves on a mulberry tree and some other plants. The grill cleaned up pretty good.
@balrog I got to brew a small batch of doppelbock today. Should get to that SMaSH this weekend.

I know I'm a couple weeks behind here....
But I;m guessing Emporium is also picking up the extra business from the demise of Strange Brew.
SB was 10 minutes from my house, even getting stuck at all the red lights, so aside from it being the local, it was where I could run to pick up something in an emergency. West of Marlboro it's easy to get to HE - for me it's a tossup to go to Boylston or Cambridge, and neither is easy. Gotta make sure I have everything a week in advance, to find time to get there.

Sup, *******?
Not much, having morning coffee, it’s raining, I brewed yesterday might brew again today and I definitely will wash some laundry. Boring accept for brewing.

Having a hard time listening to the debate over whether or not college football should be played.... what the hell are people thinking? Get a new thing to identify with this year, like wellness.
