Last week I spent $80 on a stir plate that lasted 45 min. That POS got returned to Amazon.
All laying around the garage: recipe card box, some scrap wood, screws, stain, pvc clamps, dimmer switch etc
I purchased a replacement exhaust fan from Amazon for $13 and two 2 lbs pen magnets for $5 at Amazon. I had to destroy the pens with a hacksaw and pliers to get the magnets out. I put two wood screws on the back of the vents, places the magnets then used shrink tube to double secure them. This stir plate is quite, powerful, cools itself and is adjustable. Doing a 24 hour test on it now. Cheers to the guy that used the dimmer control nob, thanks for the idea.View attachment ImageUploadedByHome Brew1445321334.823851.jpgView attachment ImageUploadedByHome Brew1445321348.273124.jpgView attachment ImageUploadedByHome Brew1445321364.708271.jpgView attachment ImageUploadedByHome Brew1445321376.426405.jpgView attachment ImageUploadedByHome Brew1445321395.629662.jpgView attachment ImageUploadedByHome Brew1445321410.014508.jpgView attachment ImageUploadedByHome Brew1445321424.249727.jpgView attachment ImageUploadedByHome Brew1445321434.634839.jpgView attachment ImageUploadedByHome Brew1445321481.757988.jpgView attachment ImageUploadedByHome Brew1445321493.359378.jpg

You must have daughters. Mine made me do the coloured water thing when I was testing mine.
Nice job

I was thinking of waterproofing it and protect that exposed switch. Then it dawned on me plastic wrap is cheap and the plate looks cool sitting out. If people ask what it is, I'll be honest. It's a time machine. It literally speeds up time for yeast. :)
