Hi all!
I'm starting to put together some ideas for my first labels, and seeing lots of awesome ideas here. I'm using GIMP to put it all together.
Something that I find makes some of these labels, on this forum, pop put are the great textured Backgrounds.
Where is a good place to find these?
Thanks!

You can also use some filters to create them...but that might be more advanced than you are at right now...dont go to google...go to flickr.com and search for textures...they are done by professionals and organized really well...most artists want you to use them as well...you won't be dissapointed

Congrats on using The Gimp! Together with Inkscape (for vector drawings) and MyPaint (for sketchings), it's one of my favorite tools!

Also, may I remind my fellow brewers that it's best to check first if images are copyrighted and/or free to use either personally or commercially, and if you can modify them, etc.

Wikimedia Commons has TONS of pretty images and paintings, which are either in the public domain, or under some sort of Creative Common license.

Oh, by the way here's a great plugin to create tileable textures:

The Texturize plugin for The GIMP

Anyway, happy label making! :D

Hello IBeer and congrats on the label making! In addition to the free searching, which I would avoid due to copyrighting issues, you might want to check out istock.com, shutterstock.com and yaymicro.com. (Yay Micro being the cheapest.) They have a huge selection of images if you'd rather get a professionally done background and you can get them in many sizes so you are sure to find a size that will work for print.

Good luck and have fun!

Thanks everyone for the great tips! I've been searching through lots of different choices now.
That really does help get me going!
