I want the best......
My new beer refrigerator used to be harvest gold until my awesome wife painted it with epoxy. I'm not worried breaking down, because my hillbilly brother-in-law is a refrigeration specialist.
I read on this forum about temperature controlled devices that are super easy on said appliance... which one should I by?

There really is no one right answer. The stc1000 is what I use. If you want one plug in ready to use you might want to go with Johnson controls. Or there is love controllers. I like DIY so I got the STC 1000 and wired it up myself following the ebay aquarium temp controller thread on here. So ultimately depends on what you're looking for which your preference would be.

Bottom line they all keep the beer where we want them temp wise. I'm happy with the stc1000 I built. I'd order it again if I needed another controller.

I have two of these. Plus, the thermistor is smaller than on the johnson = smaller hole to drill. Or, the other plus it that it doesn't have a semi rigid wire to bend.

Wait, I just found a johnson control with the same features, it's more expensive though. It does come fully wired though.

I just went to home depot and bought one of their store brand heavy duty extension cords and used that to wire my plugs up. On the second one I used what was left of the same extension cord and bought two replacement plugs from home depot.

Easy visual indepth build of the STC-1000, for those like myself who are electrically challenged.

Another STC-1000 recommendation here. I have two freezers now controlled by these super inexpensive controllers, and both work great.

I built my first keezer yesterday. I'm using the Johnson Control A419. What sold me on this is, it's got a adjustable "anti-short cycle delay" and a adjustable differential. I've worked on thousands of compressors, they are tougher that you think; but they don't like to chatter. Cycle it on, let it do it's job, then let everything return to it's base line, then let it cycle again.

Definitely, whatever temp controller you get for a fridge or freezer, make sure it has an anti-short cycle delay setting and an adjustable differential (if you intend it for fermentation). It will add tremendously to the lifetime of the compressor.

On the STC-1000 you can adjust Compressor restart dwell times (Currently mine is set at 3 minutes) and Hysteresis which sound similar.

I have the Johnson it's a nice unit set it and forget it comes ready to go right out of the box pretty much

I am waiting on my STC, but where would I find those settings? Are there instructions anywhere? Just getting myself prep'd.
