I've heard many people mentioning temp control overides on their kegerators. Is this necessary if you use a refrigerator, or is that only for a freezer? I have a full size spare fridge and i'm planning my first kegerator with it, but I don't really wanna add a temp controller to my already astronomical bill for the kegging equipment.

What temp. do you plan to keep your fridge at? Can the built in fridge temp. controller achieve this target temp.?

Answering these questions will help determine if you need a temp. controller.

I'm no expert on fridge capabilities but I think if you're using a fridge and plan to keep your beer stored in the 36-degrees or higher range then you should be OK without a temp. controller.

I think one of the main reasons people use external temp. controllers is when they are using a freezer unit and need to override the freezer's default temp. ranges since most commercial freezers won't let you set a temp. above the "freezing" point ... if that makes sense.
