Ok, so I just tried my first brew, wich is a mini mash "Octane IPA" kit.
The pour:
This was a huge hit or miss situation as there was a high chance this wouldn't even be carbonated. Much to my surprise though, the bottle hissed a bit when it was opened and the beer poured with a fairly good head, wich stayed for a decent time. Success in this department.
The smell:
Initial smell was very fruity, kind of unexpected with some caramel like sweetness maybe...
The taste:
Ok well, the taste is actually not bad at all. The body is a bit weak, not too malty or anything but its pretty darn bitter as I think IPA's should be. The bittering is a bit off with some wierd hints and a slightly off aftertaste, but all an all I would call this a success for a friggen first time brew.
