Anybody have a tap a draft? How is it working out for you? Hadn't seen anyone talk about these for a while in a search. Just wondering how they are holding up for people. I've been looking in to small systems due to budget and space constraints

I have one, hasn't been used in a while but it did it's job (I was tired of bottling but getting close to a cross-country move). I found it to be a little finicky, but nothing mind-numbingly horrible.

Mine was TaD bottles with "repurposed" Coors Light taps, I knew a guy whose wife worked at MC in Golden at the time (and had a beer allotment).

I've seen that people have repurposed those taps for the tap a draft. Too bad they aren't still available. I can see myself getting tired of bottling but I don't really have money space to dedicate to a full keg system

You're up in the UP, right? I'm not using mine (mounting 3 taps in my basement bar tonight), be willing to pass them on for the cost of shipping (or beer samples). Not sure that I have any usable bottles, might be one or two that are not crushed though. PM me if interested.

Yes I am, pm sent. Wish I had the space to dedicate to a full blown tap system, sounds nice. Post a pic when it's done!

PM received, with another as backup.
I need to clean up the insulation before showing off the cold box, it's a work in progress. Hope to mount taps tonight and roll the first keg (English Dark Mild) in this week. I figure that the bar will be a selling point for our house :)

I use TAD in addition to two standard 5 gallon cornelius kegs to package my beer.

I initially had big plans to hook them up to CO2 with a manifold and everything. That system was a huge PITA, with gas leaks that I couldn't isolate, and I scrapped it in frustration.

Since then I've simply been using them as designed, with the TAD dispensing caps. I have four of those and six bottles, so I can have four brews on tap simultaneously and a couple aging. Each TAD holds the equivalent of 1.625 gallons, or about 17 bottles worth, which to me is really a nice volume. I don't have a big audience drinking my beers like some of you.

I force carbonate them with one 16g cartridge, which takes about 4-5 days til said cartridge has exhausted itself into the liquid. The beer is passably carbonated (to sample) within 3 days. I then replace it with a second cartridge, which lasts until the TAD is kicked. A day after the second cartridge is inserted, the beer is carbed well. They fit easily in a fridge or in other convenient places, like a shelf in my garage during winter time, and are quite fun to use.

I started with Tap-A-Draft. They worked great for about a year then the CO2 valve started leaking but it got me started. It now takes about 4 CO2 cartridges to kick one 6L bottle. I moved to 5 gal kegs.

Yeah I'd love to do kegs but not really feasible right now, plus I don't go through that amount of beer, at least not now haha
