And this is what I got regarding what water is in my Manitou neighborhood:

The primary source for your area will be the Green river and the North Fork well field. During the winter there is a chance that you could possibly see some well water from our in town wells as we use well water to supplement green river water when the winter rains bring higher turbidity to our primary source.

Tacoma water uses chlorine to treat our water.

The well at 74th and Cedar is still available for non-fluoridated water, but is chlorinated as required by law.

Thanks David. I am on Tacoma water as well. I asked the water department a couple questions a while back. They gave me similar info. However, they also told me they sometimes need to switch from the green river to wells during August/September due to low river levels.

Since our water is pretty close to distilled, I use the simple water treatment method found in the brew science forum: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f128/brewing-water-chemistry-primer-198460/

Yep, me too...when I remember to keep enough calcium chloride on hand... ran short today

Also, have you checked if they will send out auto-emails when the switch?
