I'm switching from pouring from picnic taps to new perlicks in the next few weeks. For some reason i'm going round and round in my head about the right line length, but it has occurred to me to ask a simple question. Does changing the type of tap change how the beer pours?

I've got 5 feet of 3/16th line at ~8-10 PSI in a ~44°. So far i haven't had any foaming issues. I remember running the calculations once before and found i was at a good length for that setup. Now i'm adding the perlicks at roughly the same height as i usually pour from (so i don't think the height changes much). WIll i be able to just cut off the picnic taps and attach the lines to the nipple on the shank or do i need to worry about getting new lines that are longer?

thanks

yeah, that makes sense. But if anything, wouldn't that be similar to adding line length, rather than shortening it? I don't mind going from 5 ft to 4 ft, but i'm more concerned about needing to go from 5 to 10 ft or such.

oh, it's not the price of the line that i am worried about. It's honestly the pain that is removing and reattaching the line. I guess it wont be as hard for my beer out line as it was for replacing the gas line (had a leak in a manifold and the only solution was replacing it all).
