I love Trois Pistoles, but it's a little out-of-style for the summer time. Well, I just found the summertime version of it.

Brooklyn Local 1.

It's got much of the same flavor profile as Trois Pistoles, but it is light in color and body.

It almost tastes like a hefeweisen, but it is clear. The color is almost orange. I don't think it's a wheat beer. It has a certain candy quality to it. It is fantastic.

There are a couple of flavors I'm still trying to place my finger on...

lemon peel (not the bitterness, just the flavor)... a grassy-ness... emphasis on flavor rather than bittering hops.

I'm wondering if there's some brett in there... I don't think so, but maybe.

9% alcohol should not be this drinkable....

Edit to add: I cheated and read some reviews myself. Peaches. Yes. Peaches. That is the flavor I was tasting but couldn't put my finger on. And pear. Pear is a good descriptor as well.

I didn't say it before, but I should've come right out at the beginning and called it boldly. This beer is a winner. To me, I love Trois Pistoles so that means "winner" to me. But maybe not to you. Anyway, this beer is excellent.

Like a few other people whose posts I've read here, I too have never considered myself a Belgian beer drinker... but this one is good... very very good.

I think it would serve as a good introduction to the style except for the fact that it's very hefe-like and very pale ale-like. It tastes more like a confusion that like its own style. But it is nevertheless excellent.
