So, every fall I make a batch of cider to keep the wife happy. She's a big fan of the Leprechaun Pomegranate Cider, so I wanted to make something similar. My thoughts were take a simple cider and add the pomegranate, but I'm not sure how to do that. Here's what I was thinking.

5 gallons Tree Top apple juice
Wyeast Cider 4766
Yeast nutrient
Pectic enyzme

How should I go about adding pomegranate and when should I do it?

Well, I'm going to add some straight pomegranate juice to my bottling bucket. How much is yet to be determined but should be doing it within the next week or so.

I did a recipe that had pomegranate and blueberry. 5 gallons of juice, 3 cans of pomegranate and blue berry apple juice concentrate. Turned out pretty good. Add sugar to your taste.

I was thinking of doing this to my next batch of cider. I am going to use 1gallon UV pasteurized apple juice, yeast nutrient, maybe a touch of brown sugar and some champaign yeast, wait three weeks and add pomegranate juice to the secondary (1.5 - 2 cups). This will be for the SWMBO as a piece offering because I took over a counter so I will probably back sweeten and will carb in the bottle.

I made a great pomegranate wheat beer using an extract kit honey-wheat beer recipe. I changed the recipe by adding 1 bottle of pomegranate molasses during secondary fermentation. Here's the stuff I used:

It's very cheap, considering that you get 6 bottles, and they'll last you years.

This beer was originally planned for my girl friends to drink, but my bros ended up liking it even more than the girls (who also loved it).

Also, I've found that the pomegranate molasses makes average/below-average light beers drinkable. For example, if you add a slight drizzle to a Bud Light Platinum, it changes from "swill" to "tasty".

Bottom line, one 9-oz bottle (already pasteurized) would add an awesome, strong, tart, berry flavor to your apple cider. It's a strong pomegranate flavor, however. If you want the apple flavor to be prevalent, consider adding 3/4 to 1/2 of the 9 oz. bottle.

/edit: this is for a 5-gallon recipe. Pomegranate molasses is strong. Adjust accordingly!

Bumping this up again to see what other people have done. Costco has 60 oz jugs of pomegranate juice on sale right now.

I am about to transfer to secondary the following concoction in a Mr. Beer LBK:

2 Gallons Treetop 3 Blend AJ
64 oz W. Knudsen's "Just Pomegranate" juice
**Edit: 1 cup of brown sugar for extra alcohol kick!**

I have one more 32 oz "Just Pomegranate" juice to add to when I bottle to back-sweeten/add more flavor...I wonder if I should also add some AJ concentrate...

I plan on bottle conditioning and then pasteurizing the bottles to keep from having bottle bombs. I will let you know how it turns out in a few weeks! Let me know your thoughts!
