can you add strawberry jam to a beer recipe?

The wife made strawberry jam and it didn't gel up. It tastes good but is more like a syrup than a jam... so instead of wasting the strawberry syrup/jam I was wondering if anybody had a recipe that would work?

heh, that is awesome. I recall JPalmer mentioning that sooner or later you start looking at things and thinking, "I can ferment that".

There are some strawberry recipes in the recipe section, like this one: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f75/strawberry-alarm-clock-v3-0-strawberry-blonde-132129/

But how to convert raw strawberries to jam?

But since you mention it is like a syrup I found this that uses strawberry extract. I figure it is more liquid jam like. It uses 16oz extract for 5 gallons: http://beerrecipes.org/showrecipe.php?recipeid=1147

It is a starting point anyway, perhaps err on the conservative side for the first batch. A big question is are there preservatives in the jam? I think from some cider reading i did that perservatives inhibit yeast?

thanks Wig! I really like the Albino Strawberry recipe you posted. The jam my wife made has strawberrys ,pectin and sugar in it. pretty basic but I'm not sure what the pectin will do to the beer? It didn't gel in the jar so it might not gel in the beer?..what the heck I will give a try..lol

thanks again!
