Hello Homebrewtalk.

Long time lurker, first time poster. I've read several threads on wiring the stc - 1000 and for whatever reason I can't get this thing to work. The only difference that I'm seeing is that people tend to favor the double outlet due to the heat and cooling options. In my case I'd like to just have cooling since I'm connecting this to my freezer but I can't imagine that making much difference. I have an extension cord connected to the power supply which would be in the 1-2 sockets, senor being in 3-4 and cooling in 7-8. As you can see from the pictures the freezer plugs into the (yellow) cooling outlet. I have zero skills when it comes to electrician work so I'm at a loss. Any input would be much appreciated.

I cannot see your entire circuit, but it looks like your freezer is plugged into the 7-8 terminals. Those terminals are really a switch, not a power supply to the freezer. You need to connect the white wire from the the power cord to terminal 2 AND to the white wire of the freezer plug. The black wire from the power cord needs to connect to terminal 1 AND to terminal 7. Connect the black wire of the freezer plug to terminal 8. The wiring diagram here https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/stc-1000-wiring-diagram-question-362214/ is very similar except that it shows an electrical outlet instead of the plug and includes the ground (green) wire.
