Hi all

After a year of homebrewing, I'm reaching the stage now where I'm actually producing some nice beers that I'm quite proud to give my friends a taste of. One key element I've found is the water I'm using, but even more important is temperature control. I've really enjoyed the winter here in the southern hemisphere, from a brewing point of view, as the hot water cupboard has provided me with one of two 'temperature settings' (bottom of the cupboard, top of the cupboard) depending on the ambient temperature at the time, and in all cases, I've been able to keep the temp at the lower end of the yeast's range for amazing results.

But we're entering summer. A year ago, I was excited about that, because I thought it would be good for the ales I was planning on making. I made some ok and some pretty awful tasting beers over that time, and it would have mostly been down to temperature control.

So I'd like to head down that route. I have a chest freezer I really don't use all that much, and it would make a superb fermentation cooler. But, of course, I need a temperature controller. Doe anyone know of any online stores that sell pre-wired STC-1000 units? I know the wiring isn't all that difficult, but I don't especially enjoy DIY projects when it comes to mains voltage, and would prefer not to destroy things along the way in getting it wrong.

This is what you want.

They work great and a lot of people are using these now rather than buying a STC1000 because they are so cheap.

I use one for my Keezer to keep my chest freezer @ 40..works great.

The benefit of this as well is it has heating as well, so when the cold weather comes if you need to hook up a small heat source you can.

I own 2 STC1000's that i built myself and no longer use them.

Thanks a lot. That's so close to being exactly what I want. The only way to improve on it would be to have a model with AU/NZ plugs on it!
