Does Star San have any effect on carbonation when using to sanitize bottles? I am having trouble getting beer to carbonate and am new to the Star San revolution....any help is appreciated. Thanks~!

I am going to say no. I use a SS solution and sanitize immediately before bottling. Do not fear the foam. I have heard that some of the stuff in SS actually provides some nutrients for the yeast. I would make sure that the caps are not loose after bottling. I had some issues with that in the past. Also add your priming solution slowly. I do it in 4ths. Add some after the first 4th is siphoned into the bucket then at 2/4 and 3/4. Seems to work for me. How long are you waiting before opening? What types of beer are you making?

Never had an issue using SS before bottling and I have bottled A LOT of beer using it. Maybe your yeast was dead, or caps not tight. Are all bottled flat, or just some?

No, starsan actually becomes yeastfood, which would HELP carbonation....

Everything you need to know about carbing and conditioning, can be found here Of Patience and Bottle Conditioning.. More than likely you will find the answer to WHY your beer's not carbed YET, there.

(there's rarely any other reasons than those I wrote about in there.)

I am making beer that ranges between 1.060 and 1.088 OG. I am a brewer that has come back after a 10 year absence and am finding out what works and what doesn't again. Is there any way to tell if I have dead yeast? Caps seem to be on tight. they are in the basement and are at about 67* F. The beers that have not carbed are a dead guy clone and a double IPA. I have a wheat that is not bottled and a pale ale that is in primary now. I am trying to avoid the problems of the past with future bottling on the horizon. BTW....there is some carbonation, but it is slight....thanks for the help gang~!
Cheers~!
