So, I briefly touched on this in another thread, but I wanted to see what others might say as well... I just finished building, sanding and prepping my new wood brew stand (2-tier gravity fed). After I stain it, I plan on sealing it with Minwax Helmsman Spar Urethane. With my stand, the burner (Bayou SP10) sits on the top tier, so it gets pretty warm underneath. I do put down a small piece of sheet metal but it only protects so much. Has anyone used this product? how does it hold up against the heat? Im also open to other suggestions for clear coat/sealing if anyone has them. Thanks!

I've seen people putting a tile underneath. That metal may get hot enough to scorch. Try and test. Or put a piece of cement backer board underneath the sheet metal.

That stand looks really nice!
If anything, I'd prefer to be able to stick my toes under that bottom runner, like kitchen cabinets, have a toe space. Can you raise it up 5-7 inches?

I was thinking a tile would be better. Lizard beat me to it. Helmsman is a great product, but it will flat out melt if it gets hot.

Thanks! I had literally finished putting the bottom rung on when my buddies showed up ready to brew. After I stain it, I have casters that I plan on attaching to give it a 3" toe kick so to speak

Dang. I love the idea of staining this wood, but the more and more I think about it, the more painting this bad boy with temp resistant paint instead of staining...
