Does anyone here use the SS Brewtech kettle and the option for the False bottom?

I'm looking to upgrade to a better brew pot but I'm concerned about all the trub getting into my carboy. Their trub dam looks interesting and from a couple of reviews I have seen seems to work pretty well so I was wondering if it was worth i to get the additional false bottom to help block all or most of the hops from draining out into my carboy for fermenting.

If the trub dam works well enough on it's own I'll gladly pass on spending the extra money for the false bottom if it isn't necessary.

If you use whole hops, the false bottom would work great. If you use hop pellets, the hop sediment will still go through the FB unless it has a fine mesh on it.

Most brewers that do not use a hop spider will install a fine mesh "sock" on their dip tubes to filter out the hop pellet sediment (see here for reference: http://www.theelectricbrewery.com/boil-kettle?page=3)

From someone who owns one of the hop spiders linked above, dont wast your money.

Worst brewing experience of my life. Makes you drain super slow, and cleaning is a royal pain. I just whirlpool and let the trub collect in the cone of my fementer if it gets past the whirlpool.
