I am about to start down the All Grain path. As of right now, my brew kettle isnt large enough to handle a full batch of wort at one time [lusting after the 10 gallon pot at the local restaurant supply house- maybe santa will bring it]. I have read in multiple places, you can do a split batch and combine in the fermenter. dealing with the grain is simple- just ask for it to be split into two bags [if it's not that way already]
the question is about the hops - should i split them as well, or just infuse in one half of the boil? i'm thinking the chemistry shouldnt be a big deal and would default to the second batch, but like some input

How large of a batch can you do? You could just make 3 gallon batches. I make 3 gallon batches for testing so I'm not stuck with 5-6 gallons of beer that is not exactly what I wanted.

my full batches are ~5 gallons; my brew kettle is only 4 gallons. i already do 'small' batches- just want to up the ante to full sized All Grain recipes
