Sparging

So I've brewed two batches of a one gallon brew getting ready to move on to 5 gallons soon (just wanted some practice) but my only complication in brewing so far is sparging. I have trouble with my method I guess, I just don't get it, any helpful tips or methods the will make it easier. It's just a painin the butt.

It would be helpful if you were a bit more specific. Alternately, if you don't like sparging, you can always just skip it and pay a little more for grain.

Just batch sparge. It's nothing more than adding some hot water to the mash and draining it out. Read up on batch sparging. Simply put, if you all grain brew you need to sparge to be efficient. It's not mandatory, but your grain will go a lot more for you when sparging.

Cool I'll check out batch sparging. And the strainer I used didn't fit all the grain, and so I go a mesh bag that I had to scoop the grain into but then it didn't drain well at all. I think I just need a big ass strainer. But what method is easiest for 5 gallons.

Hello, Look at BIAB ether with a dunk sparge or No sparge, simple AG brewing, I use 3, 5 gallon paint strainer's to divide up my grain, makes it really easy to handle, transfer, dunk sparge, squeeze for volume, ext.
