I;m looking for some champagne bottles that are dark brown or black for bottling beer in. Does anyone know where i can find something like this? I know they make them since a lot of breweries use them. Thanks.

Your post made me realize that I have never seen new bottles sold anywhere. Every time I have seen them referred to for bottling, they were bought full of champagne!

Wow, I can't even believe that page! It is un-believable how horrible it renders in my browser!

At any rate, my LHBS (disclaimer, I work there part time) stocked them once, and now when we try to re-order the wholesaler doesn't have them in stock. If your going to order from the page robtotten provided call or email first and see if they actually have them in stock.

yeah, thats the only place I've found any. I'll call them first if i do order there. Actually it looks like you can only order by calling it in anyway. I was really hoping for darker ones though. I have a feeling the amber is lighter than I want. Oh well. Thanks

Amber = standard beer bottle color

The only ones I've seen that are close to black are the ones used for Freixenet’s Cordon ***** Brut. You could find some banquet hall that does a lot of weddings and if they have a wedding coming up that is serving it they might save you the bottles. Either that or develop a taste for $10 a bottle sparkling wine.
