solder safety

I have seen a lot of projects using soldered copper fittings on either cold side aparatus (cfc) as well as hot side aparatus (siphon tube on bottom of kettles). I am sure this is lead free, but I still question the safety/inertness of this material. does leaching occur at all?

Plumbing solder is intended for drinking water applications. It is safe and effective.
