I just tried my first Smithwicks last night. Is it supposed to be so smokey? I don't know if it's just old or what, but the smoke flavor isn't too bad. Kind of smooth and mellow.

Tonight's entre is another Goose Island 312 Urban Wheat Ale.

Was it on tap or in bottles?

I've never had it in bottles, only on tap. I first had it at an Irish Pub, O'Sullivan's out here in Plainfield, long before you could get it in bottles. I really liked it - smooth, well balanced - an nice quaffable ale that even a Bud drinker could enjoy! Whenever I go there, that or Guinness is what I order. I've never noticed any smokiness. And I've been at that pub in the afternoon, long before any smokers populate the place. ;)
