Has anyone had any problems with the Wyeast smak-packs lately?
The last 4 or 5 smak-packs I've used expand correct but when I open the pack it has an EXTREMELY strong yeast smell and the beer is not even drinkable it has such a strong yeast smell and taste.

Yeah I have noticed the gas that comes out of the smack pack is smelly but the beers have been coming out well.

Dude...I have had the exact same issue. How long are you leaving your beer in the fermeter. And how would you describe the "flavor" of yeast. I describe it as dirty feet, moldy bread, musty, etc...basically exactly like it smells. I dumped a batch because of it, but I had no idea that it was yeast I was tasting. However, that batch I only left in the fermeter probably 8 days before kegging it up. I have concluded that I need to leave it for 3-4 weeks, cold crash it, keg it, and then keg condition it for a couple weeks to really let the yeast flocculate and compact.
