Ok i'm brewing a lager from coopers home brew kit it's my first batch ever and it been in the fermenter for 4 1/2 days now the airlock stopped bubbling after 2 1/2 days completly and theres no more krausen at the top really at all so today i took a hydrometer test ad it was 1.010 and the beer was very very cloudy and smelled sour i sanitized everything very well and this is the first hydrometer test i'v taking since i pitched the yeast i'v left it alone and not opened the lid but now i'm very worried that this is a bad batch dose anyone know why these things would happen do i just need to wait longer or am i screwed any help would be great thank you in advance EPS

After 7 days, beer usually tastes bad. The taste you described is likely the yeast still floating around in suspension. Give it a few more weeks, then lager for as long as you can bear to wait.

Holy run-on sentence Batman!

To answer your question, if there is one, since I never saw a question mark...Just wait.

EDIT: you beat me

It just smells kind of sour and its very very cloudy but i just worked up the courage to taste it and it taste like flat beer not sour really at all it's just so cloudy it looks like fermentation has stopped but hydrometer says it still needs time cause it's at 1.010 and and the directions say it should be at 1.008 so i know i should wait till then but does anyone know how long i should keep it in the fermenter after i reach 1.008 ? Waiting longer will this clear up the cloudyness or should i just bottle it when i reach 1.008 thank guys and sorry for the basic questions this is my first time ever EPD

I wouldn't worry about it. Revvy has some Greta stuff posted here about waiting. If memory severs you say like 4 days....I let it sit for few weeks and my beer is very clear....search on "never give up on beer" ...

I had the same problem with my first beer. A blonde Ale looked more like a Witbeer.
I have my second going in bottles today. I pulled a test on day 18 in the primary and it was clearing up nicely. The way it was explained to me was let it sit at least 3 weeks the yeasts are done with the first stage of there job. Now let them clean up after themselves. You may be surprised at what you find after 3 weeks. Just my 2 cents.

Yeah, def wait to let the yeast clean up their own wastes. I let mine sit for 12 days (the Cooper's OS lager kit). It cleared to a slight haze,so I bottled it 3 weeks ago tomorrow.
It'll be going in the fridge for at least 5 days To clear even more (including chill haze,as I understand). It is also said to make the yeast sediment at the bottom of the bottle firm up a bit as well. Makes me wish it was next weekend, since I may be done dry hoping by then on my current batch. May be drinkin some home brew while bottling some home brew. Cool!:tank:
