Trying to save some cash and just purchased this Skimmer to use as a mash paddle. It is nickle plated so I know it wont last forever but wanted to give it a try before I bought a stainless one.

To me this looks like the perfect mash paddle

Anyone else use similar? I paid less than $20 for it

Ive used something similar to that while cooking fried foods. Does it have enough weight to stir a pot full of grain?

Yeah it's very heavy duty. My main hope is that it pulls the grains up from the bottom of the kettle while bringing up to temp. Been using a large metal stirring spoon for 3 years and takes a lot of work keeping the mash moving around.

The handle is 36" long and 7/8" wide (would take a lot of force to bend it) then the basket is 8" diameter

(It is marketed for deep frying on a large scale)
