Kegging...

got all excited when SWMBO said I could turn the old fridge into a kegerator...all these thoughts creeping through my mind. One of which was covering the plain Jane white sides with oak and trimming it out to look a little more swank...ya know? I was looking at nice beer taps then all of the sudden it hit me...I am a dog trainer and run a small Wolfdog rescue, I have anywhere between 7 and 12 dogs living in my home at any given time. (I have 7 of my own). A couple of my pups LOVE beer, and are very smart. Has anyone ever had a problem with thier dog opening the tap, or even licking the tap for a pooch-pint? At this point the kit I got has picnic taps, but I still like the idea of having a kegerator look more like furniture in my den with taps rather than another fridge....

make sure you read the thread (sticky?) on hops + dogs. it's a definte no-no.

you're going to love kegging. best thing we ever did. well wait the best thing was deciding to brew our own beer!

If you read the sticky about dogs, read the whole thing. The results aren't really that convincing when you look at the sample.

Beyond that, you could take the tap handles off when you're not around or get those little plastic covers for the taps for like 50 cents (I think those little 'tap-condoms' are great because mine is in the garage and it keeps the fruit flies out).

I think there are some simple solutions that would keep out anyone without thumbs. :)
