Hey guys, just got finished building my 5 gallon army cooler MLT. I was going to buy a 10 gallon but as i'm in the army and we had one lying around for free i decided I minus well build it, and only cost 7 dollars in parts, although i built it differently then other's i have seen, will post pics sometime soon. and i'm sure i'll build a 10 gallon in the future anyway. Anyway, I'm new into home brewing and i was at my LHBS yesterday and the old wryly brewer, who was cool as hell, told me to use a shower head for sparging, I haven't seen or heard anyone else on hear mention it before but as I am new I figured I'd ask. I went out and bought a $4.98 plastic shower head that i assume SHOULD work, advice or comments?

I have seen it mentioned and does work along with a collinder a plastic tub cover with holes in it ect. What base is in NJ? 20 years ago I was also in the Army. Good luck

I'm actually a recruiter, HQ'd out of Fort Dix. Thanks for the reply, I think i'm going to experiment and see if I can come up with a unique sparge using the shower head then!

You know all those grunts that you promised sandy beaches and cheap whores will be cussing you for the next 8 weeks. I assume with the cooler you are batch sparging? Just curios how you are incorporating the shower head.

I think i am going to make arms to hold it dead center of the cooler and siphon from heated water.

..
I have alot of guys I have enlisted that are deployed right now, so far no cussing. I get calls quite a bit from baghdad and so far they are all pretty happy, it's not that bad anymore and it alot of tax free money and combat pay they bring home. maybe i'll have to get them into homebrewing when they get back in june, a year with no beer, it'll be right up their alley.
