quick question about the base. is it going to attatch to the feezer or are you going to be a rolling stand that you set the freezer on? i'm wanting to do something similar when i get my freezer but wasn't sure on the best way to rig something to support the load or how to attatch it to the freezer.

Blatz logo is a sticker. I got it years ago when Pabst was still open for tours.
I almost want to buy a brown flatbed truck and throw a few Blatz stickers on it.

I'm hoping I can still peel it off in the event the fridge has to be de-commissioned.

Yeah, me too. I tried searching for "show sanyo, show kegerator" and the like but couldn't find anything. Then again, I sympathize with the noobs about searching, because when I know what I'm looking for sometimes I still cannot find it.

Im making mine nice and tight to set the freezer in. Just my luck id hit a freon line. After i get it built ill post pics

hey attitude, im going to be building my kegorator with a top facuet like yours was it hard to do? i bought a 1 1/8" hole saw for the piping im going to start out with 2 kegs but move up to 3-4 or more i was given a huge chest freezer that could prolly hold 2 half barrels!

can you post some pics of the inside? also what do you use to control the temp? mine is sitting around 9f at the warmest setting which im sure will freeze beer lol

easy as making bud lite. Mine is a Figidaire 9.0 CU from best buy. it will hold 4 cornies, a 20LB CO2 tank, and a case of beer( without building a collar).I drilled a 2 1/2 hole saw hole( no freon lines in the lid). I have a Johnsonson controls A-19 single stage controller. Ill send some pics tomorrow.

Here's the latest improvement to my kegerator (along with a second tap):

My first pour was always warm and foamy, and I got tired of it. So...

I had a project box left over from the stir plate venture, and I found a 120VAC fan that I previously scavenged from an old refrigerator. 10 minutes later, I had a working blower. I added a 1-1/4" piece of ShopVac hose that fits inside the tower alongside the keg lines. It comes on every time the Ranco controller kicks the refrigeration on. As a result, my kegerator is only a little noiser, and there is PLENTY of cold air blowing up into the tower! Even though the tower is insulated, it's quite cold to the touch on the outside. I hope it doesn't start producing too much condensation...

No kegerator here yet, but looking to get something nearly identical to this. Any ideas where I can buy one of these and/or save money building one? I.e. what cubic foot am I looking for to fit 2 corny and Co2 tank, etc. Brand suggestions? Suggestions for best place to buy a two tap tower, etc.

The Sanyo 4912 is 4.9 cu ft. It'll hold two cornies and a 5 lb tank. I got mine at Best Buy for $169 on sale. Normally it's priced at $199. It is just a fridge, so you'll have to mod it.

Sorry, I missed the question while looking at all the brew porn on the page.

The TurboTap is a colossal waste of money for the home kegerator owner. I bought it before I knew anything about keg line balancing because it promised a foam free pour with the perfect head. It turns out that my kegerator was plagued with a lot of issues (the last of which I just fixed yesterday with the blower system). A properly balanced draught system doesn't need a fancy faucet. In fact, the TurboTap requires a properly balanced system before it even works properly. What it offers is the use of 1/4" ID tubing at standard serving pressures with somewhat short line lengths so that you get a faster pour. I find that I get a better pour with the standard 6' of 3/16" ID tubing, so I'm really only gaining a consistent, easy pour with the TurboTap now that I have my kegerator set up properly.

Unless you need to pour beer quickly, save your money for forward seal faucets, good temperature controllers, and brew ingredients.

And don't buy a Haier kegerator. Convert a fridge or freezer for half the cost.

By the way, the tower cooler is AWESOME! I highly recommend it to anyone with poor first pour issues. Due to a bit of air circulation, my kegerator cools much more efficiently now (it runs less and cools faster), and even the taps are cold to the touch.

Anyone ever put taps through the door of a 4912 or does everyone use a tower? Was thinking about getting a kegging setup from midwest that comes with the taps built for fridge doors...

Or am I better off just getting a used large fridge w/ freezer in this case? Then I can store bottles beside the kegs as well...

I went with the used fridge route, but don't buy a 20 year old one, you can find a fairly new one for a decent price. The little bit more money for a newer one will ofset the cost in not to long by it being more efficient. That and compaired to the little kegorators, you get a lot more storage space, that is if you have the extra room for it.

Just remember with kegging that if you have a lot of beer in kegs, you are limited with how much you can serve. If you have no problem with only serving two beers at a time then the Sanyo is adequate. I've actually frozen my kegs with the Sanyo so there are no cooling issues I've seen.

All in all, if you want a small kegerator, you can't go wrong with the Sanyo. Oh and spend the money on the dual tower.
