i have 5 ten lb bags of uncrushed briess 2 row that i just received by mistake and shipping back is prohibitive. i will not be able to use these grains until early 2022. they are still sealed in the bags and will be left in my cool basement. i only brew in the winter and have all i can handle for this winter. any idea if these will still be good in 13-14 months?

yes, grain is stored in silos on farms until prices are right. the barley is probably +1 years old already prior to malting.

beware of bugs, but a cooler side basement should deter hatching.

^right^. It's a crap shoot how many months or even a year or so a grain bag may have on the clock. I had an unopened sack of base malt on hand for two years - got lost in the pile - so it may have been 3 years or more off the stalks by then, but there was still plenty of character left...

Cheers!
