Hey there everybody. I just transferred my beer to the secondary and I think I may have siphoned it a bit too quickly resulting in a 1/2 layer of sediment at the bottom. The beer is a little cloudy, I'm assuming this is normal? The sediment will settle back to the bottom? Thanks! :)

Cool beans. I was starting to freak out a little bit. Ahhhh...you learn something everyday. :mug:

Yeah, that's what many are saying but I just couldn't resist trying out my shiny new carboy. I also threw in an ounce of whole leaf Chinook for some dry hoppin. I took a little taste and it was nice and hopalicious. :) 2 weeks in the secondary and then bottling time.

so ales should all be cloudy yeasty and lagers clear?

hmmm...

I often secondary all my bottled beer styles, simply because I never rack very cleanly. I always dip my siphon tip too low and suck up some sediment.

My kegged beers don't matter because I can just shoot that sediment out on the first pint after tapping, but to keep my bottle beer 'crud free' I basically always do a short secondary, even for a dark beer you can't see through.

And all of these methods are correct. As long as you made delicious beer, you did EVERYTHING right. :)
