Got my red ale sitting in my carboy/secondary and the top level of clear beer keeps rizing and falling. At one point I had an inch of great clear beer on top...then that shrank to 1/8"...now its back to about an inch....? Wth?

Could this have to do with temp??

I’ve seen this with WLP004, Irish Ale Yeast. I cold crashed it and when it warmed up, the yeast went back in suspension. I wonder if you may be having temperature variations.

Hold it at 68F and it should clear, mostly, in a few days after the fermentation is done.

That’s why I don’t use it anymore. S-04 drops like a rock.

Im definetly having trouble keeping right at one temp. The fiancee and I are in a condo for a while saving for a house, the temp varies from about 65 to 70. Ill see if the spare closet holds a steadier temp and move it in there.
