Sealing pipe threads?

I'm sure the pipefitters might say it's cheating, but for the fittings that are way out of alignment, instead of just chasing the threads I'd be inclined to make them deeper. Run the tap in an extra 1/4-1/2 turn in order to be able to get your alignment right on the fittings. It won't be easy in Stainless, but it's better than hoping that numerous wraps of tape don't eventually leak.

I swear...

so I noticed a clear solidified goop near the applicator where I left the remaining goop. One half of the Loctite 2046 two-liquid syringe was probably plug-sealed at the applicator end when I got it. Meaning that only half the damn liquid, and not the half which CURES, actually went onto the threads.

Also the 567 stuff is NSF 61 certified. To 82 degrees C.

*sigh* amazon returns and hopefully a better applicator of 2046 in the future.

Doesn't shred like the thin white stuff. 3-4 layers of it and even the ****tiest of thread fits won't leak.

Does your tube of 567 look like this? You write about it like it's epoxy with a catalyst. I'm looking at Loctite's website and it says good for 204 C or 400 F http://www.grainger.com/product/5A2...5A236&ef_id=Verf@AAABQgi6iOg:20151019114859:s

The 567 hasn't come in the mail yet. I was talking about the 2046 - double tube with a mixing applicator and it didn't mix. About the 567, Loctite does indeed say it works to 400F, but the NSF61 certification on it is good for 82 degrees C (hot water plumbing). I'm guessing it's only tested to not give off odors/flavors to 82C.

I believe if you were to use Loctite Pipe Sealing CORD then you could adjust the fittings inline without having any leaks. Kind of expensive but it's supposed to do exactly what you are looking to do.

What about this stuff. You are supposed to be able to back off the fittings to make alignments

I thought about it, but my fittings are a bit beyond normal tolerances (way too loose. I'm shooting for one step less secure than just soldering them together.
