bought a keg, ran home, connected the line and poured a pint. worked great. opened up the chest freezer door, and there was a puddle of beer on the floor.

i have the "convert a sanke to homebrew" tap from kegconnection. It seems to be leaking right where the threaded connector meets the line. any ideas? would teflon tape help the situation?

Does the swivel connector have a small domed washer in it? If so, it shouldn't leak.

Are those washers something that could be picked up at a hardware store? I need a few and I don't have a LHBS.

It's possible, they're just 1/4" nylon flare washers. They're only needed for metal to metal connections, such as the tailpiece moto is talking about. The standard corny disconnects are already plastic, so they're not necessary.

also....should it be convex or concave? with the beer flow or against it?

They should fit right on the angle of the flare. Notice the 45* angle on the tailpiece, match it to the corresponding 45* angle on the washer.

I haven't put mine together yet, but the couplers I have use the 1/4" flare fittings also, so that I can use a sanke if I so choose. I got all of the couplers and the flare nuts, but didn't know I would have to order the washers. I'll check around locally, hopefully someone will have them. Thanks!

You'll need them when you switch to the sanke, but when using corny disconnects, they're not needed. If you're not using the sanke connection right away, I would just add some to your next order from the online homebrew shops and not worry about trying to find them locally.

The tip of the corny disconnect should be plastic, which will give you a good seal to the swivel nut as-is.

Ah, I had not noticed that. Thanks!

i'm pretty sure kegconnection included a baggie of 2 of these. I was wondering what they were, i thought they might have been spare seals for the perlicks. now i know :)

would have been nice to know before i spilled beer all over my fridge, but you live and learn.
