Hey all, I decided to try that turbo yeast, heard a few bad things about it but also the odd good thing. Dont know till you try right?

I, like quite a few others in posts i read, was a bit concerned about the 'dont use an airlock' idea. After brewing mead for over 10 years now it was something different to experiment with. There's an image below to show what is happening on 2 I tried with this product. The one on the right i stuck to the way im used to and has an airlock fitted, the left one i used the bottle cap and left it loose enough so the bottle wouldn't inflate.

I'll be honest, even after 10 years brewing, I am no expert. I learned what i know from my grandad and everything else I've done since then has been one big experiment trying one thing after another, if it didnt work then it went in my black book. (And down the sink!)

This recipe though is one of my tried and tested ones that i really like, the only thing i changed was the yeast and i tested out using an airlock or cap. Can anyone tell me whats happened to the one on the left? I can only assume that maybe i left the cap on a little too much and the co2 had nowhere to go and its fused in the liquid?

It's still going though which is why i havent given up on it just yet, i just found it peculiar how its the same ingredients yet that one changed so much!
