Friend gave me several liquid yeast 6 oz containers. One of his favorite is an SA-04 but he only used it on English beers. My son in law wants to brew an extract Zombie Dust Pale next week when he visits. Any harm in using the SA-04?

Can you confirm what the yeast strain actually is? As far as I know, nobody sells a strain called SA-04. There's Fermentis S-04, which is a dry (not liquid) strain, but maybe your friend harvested some from a batch and gave you a slurry? Anyway, S-04 might be okay in a Zombie Dust clone, but it's not really very close to the strain 3Fs uses. They use a house strain that IMO is pretty close to Wyeast 1968 (which is also an English strain).

I think he means the Safale 04 aka s04

i use s04 in my maltier beers because it doesn't attenuate as low as the us05. It's been a while since I've had a ZD but as Vikeman says above WY1968 has been confirmed as the closest to what 3F's uses. S04 would work if you cannot get WY1968.
Also, depending how old the slurry is your friend hooked you up with you might need to make a starter to get it going and to have a good pitch rate.
