had issues with a slow drain through my bottom screens.. had to continuously stir my mash to help it drain then pump to recirculate. At the end of my mash the pump got clogged with grain. No grain is supposed to get through the screens. Any tips? Im still in the boil right now and havent been able to take anything apart yet.

What was your grain bill? Does it have a ball valve on the return arm? If you had oats or wheat you may wanna add rice hulls.

It was 11lbs of 2 row and 12oz of crystal 60L... this was my first all grain cook

I think robobrew is pretty similar to the Grainfather . If your bottom screen isnt flush it would allow grain to pass by . Another thing is when your stirring your mash you could have bumped the screen or pushed down on it to off set it enough to let grains go by. On the return arm from the pump if you have a ball valve with a spring you could take that out and recirculate it back to the top. I had to do that on my Gf once. I dont know if you have the malt pipe in yours or if you have a top screen . I've never used the RB before .

Yeah i think the stirring caused the bottom screen to lift. But it was not draining otherwise... do you use rice hulls with the grainfather? Will they allow it to drain easier?

I use rice hulls when using oats and wheat. I hear ya on the not draining . Been there done that and it sucks. I guess you could use rice hulls whenever you wanted because it has no fermentable value. They help keep grains and hop matter from plugging up the filter.
