I keep my RO water in a Brute 32Gal. I'm wondering how people doing the same transfer their water into the HLT. Loading 10gal into my HERMS HLT with a syphon isn't hard, but since I have pumps I want to use them.

I was thinking about putting a ball valve and quick disconnect on the Brute, but I am scared I will come home to 20 gallons of RO water in the basement. Without a submerged connections, I can't prime my pump.

Thanks.

This summer I built a portable tap wall for my wedding. I used a 55 gallon plastic barrel for the ice bucket and installed a bulkhead/valve combo for draining the ice water. I found a bulkhead/valve combo at the big box store that is intended for washing machines. It came with a good gasket to seal it up. Didn't have any issues with it.

There are more expensive stainless steel options available from the online brewing hardware places. I would look for a cooler bulkhead that uses a wide flat gasket instead a round one.

If you are too worried about it leaking then you could go with a submersible pond/aquarium pump and run a hose from the pump out the top of the lid to the HLT.
